Play It Forward — Official Rules & Shipping Policy

Welcome to Play It Forward, a social trading experiment created by Traded Tongue where every trade helps grow the journey. To ensure fairness, transparency, and a great experience for all participants, please review the following rules and policies before submitting a trade offer.

General Trade Rules

  • All items submitted for barter must be in good, clean, and working condition unless otherwise agreed upon in writing by Traded Tongue.

  • Participants must honestly disclose the condition of their item, including any defects, missing parts, repairs, damage, or functionality issues.

  • Every trade submission will receive a response of either accepted or declined via email. Due to the volume of submissions, Traded Tongue may not provide detailed explanations for declined offers.

  • Trade offers are evaluated based on several factors including:

    • Estimated resale value

    • Item uniqueness

    • Market demand

    • Collectability

    • Entertainment value for the community

    • Ability to help advance the game

  • Submission of a trade offer does not guarantee acceptance into the game.

  • Game Continuity Protocol: In the event an item remains un-traded for an extended period, the community may initiate a vote to authorize Traded Tongue to liquidate the item at its established resale value. The resulting funds will be used to acquire a new item of equivalent market value to ensure the continued progression of the game. This protocol is strictly limited to a maximum of three (3) instances throughout the duration of the experiment.

How To Submit a Trade Offer

When submitting an item for barter, please include the following:

  • Clear photos of the item from multiple angles

  • The item you would like to trade for

  • A brief description and history of the item

  • Any interesting backstory or unique details

  • Estimated average used resale value

  • Condition of the item

  • Disclosure of any flaws, damage, or defects

Providing accurate and detailed information increases the chances of your trade being considered.

Shipping Policy

Play It Forward is primarily designed for participants located in Sacramento, California and surrounding areas. However, shipping-based trades may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

For trades requiring shipping:

  • The participant submitting the trade is responsible for all shipping costs and shipping insurance when sending their item to Traded Tongue.

  • Once the item is received and inspected, the traded item will be shipped to the participant at Traded Tongue’s expense.

  • All shipped items should be packaged securely to prevent damage during transit.

  • Traded Tongue is not responsible for damage caused during shipping if adequate insurance was not purchased by the sender.

Inspection & Verification

All items received are subject to inspection upon arrival.

If an item is found to be:

  • Misrepresented

  • Counterfeit

  • Stolen

  • Significantly damaged beyond what was disclosed

  • Non-functional when described as working

then:

  • The trade will be canceled

  • The participant may be permanently banned from Play It Forward

  • Return shipping costs will be the responsibility of the sender

Fair Play & Community Standards

To keep the game fair and enjoyable for everyone:

  • Fraudulent behavior, scams, harassment, or manipulation of the game will result in immediate removal and possible permanent ban from participation.

  • Participants must legally own all items they submit for trade.

  • Illegal items, hazardous materials, weapons, counterfeit goods, or prohibited items will not be accepted.

  • Participants must be 18 years or older or have permission from a parent or legal guardian to participate.

Trade Tracking & Media Usage

Play It Forward is a public social experiment and may be documented through video, photography, livestreams, and social media content.

By participating, you agree that:

  • Photos and videos of traded items may be used by Traded Tongue for promotional and entertainment purposes

  • Your first name, city, and trade details may be publicly shared unless otherwise requested

  • Trade history may be displayed on the website leaderboard or YouTube channel

Final Decisions

All trade selections, approvals, refusals, and gameplay decisions made by Traded Tongue are final.
